ON PROCESS
I began creating a wearable work by
adding masks to a blank canvas with various layers, and
peeling back those layers through destruction.
This wearable work made from Canvas 1
wraps the body tightly on one side,
but extends in a frame to hide the body’s
true shape on the other side.
Just as layers are added by different
people and memories through time, I had different non-architecture students add
whatever they wanted to Canvas 2.
The wearable work made from Canvas 2 wraps around the body, falling loosely with gravity. The piece extends beyond the canvas, forming around the body’s neck and shoulders.
